Now she felt bad. "Aw I'm sorry. I'm afraid, but sure, you can let go." She squeezed her eyes shut, and then squeezed his shoulders gently to let him know she was ready to be dropped. She was still slightly beyond terrified of dropping like a rock and dying, but he'd reassured her that she would live. She was trembling slightly, she'd never really been forced out of her comfort zone like this, it was new and kind of exciting.
She took a trembling breath. Peeking through her eyes, she decided that it wouldn't be safe to attempt to swim with her eyes closed, instinctively, she flicked her head to fix her dark hair. She hoped she didn't look TOO much like a drowned wet. She was shallow and all about her perfect image. She sighed. "Okay, I'm really, really ready now," she assured him, relaxing even more.

Felicity looked like she felt guilty about making him hold her up the whole time, and apologized. She closed her eyes and squeezed his shoulders, giving him the idea that she was ready to be let go, but he held on, and waited for her to open her eyes again. There was no way she could try to tread water with her eyes shut. She’d topple over and he’d have to save her again, for sure.
After a few seconds, Felicity opened her eyes, flicked her wet hair to the side and confirmed that she was ready to be let go.
“Okay, keep kicking your legs and when I let go, use your arms to steady yourself in the water.” Darren instructed, before letting Felicity go in the water, but keeping his arms out in front of him for her to grab if she needed help at all.
The only other person he had properly taught to swim was his younger brother, who took to swimming quite quickly, so working with a girl like Felicity was interesting enough.

She let out a surprised gasp as the cold water climbed over her torso, but she quickly got the hang of using her arms for balance. She managed to stay above water, and not die, she looked proud of herself, and began to hum a happy little tune under her breath.
"I'm actually doing it!" She said, her excited squeal echoing off the walls of the pool room, apparently, falling into a body of water wasn't too bad, she made a friend and was learning how to swim. Then her cell phone went off, turning her head to look over at it made her lose her concentration and she fell under.
Quickly, she kicked herself to the surface, sputtering slightly. "It's no one important, that's not the special tone." She explained, hacking a little, but managing to stay up. She continued to tread water, swelling with pride.

For the first time, Felicity managed to keep herself steady in the water. She was actually quite good, as well. She looked extremely proud of herself. Darren grinned at her, folding his arms across his chest. He was tall enough to stand in the water at this height, but Felicity was shorter, and needed to use both her arms and legs to steady herself.
“You’re doing great.” Darren said, calmly. He continued to watch Felicity tread water until a ringing noise began to echo around the pool room. The girl suddenly went under the water, and flailed for a bit before surfacing and steadying herself, telling him that it wasn’t anyone important.
“You sure? You can get that if you want.” Darren put out his arms just in case Felicity needed some assistance.

"I don't need to get it, it's probably just my mom." She said, shrugging. She loved her mom a lot, honest, she did. But sometimes she just didn't feel like talking to her, and now happened to be one of those times. She was having to much fun successfully swimming-or, well, treading in one place. She looked at Darren expectantly waiting for him to teach her more.
"Hey, what are we gonna do next?" The Asian girl asked, grabbing onto Darren's arms when hers got tired. She laughed at her own laziness, waiting for him to roll his eyes, or make a comment at her. She'd come to accept him as the "Sweet but Sarcastic" kind of guy. She continued to kick her legs, though. This was a good way to lose her winter thigh weight.
She made a puffer fishy face to herself, chuckling at the memory of bath time when she was a kid. This was kind of like it to an extent. She yawned lightly. And her tummy growled, but she was having too much fun to care.

Darren smiled and nodded. “My mum keeps calling too. She needs to learn to back off sometimes.” He glanced back to where the noise had come from, thoughtfully.
When Felicity asked what they were going to do next, Darren thought for a moment. “If you feel like it, you can try to doggy paddle to the deep end. I’ll be here, so you don’t have to worry about drowning.” Truth be told, Darren was getting hungry. He also had to get in some actual swim practice before his class tomorrow, and wouldn’t mind doing some laps.
“Is it okay if I do a couple of laps? I need to practice.”

She chuckled lightly at the way he said "mom" like she was a mummy or something. However, she understood that it was just his accent, and decided to not mention what she'd been laughing at if he happened to ask, she drifted away from him slightly, trying to contain herself.
"Okay!" She said cheerfully, truth be told, she didn't actually feel like learning anymore swimming techniques. She loved to swim, and loved to learn, but she was getting enough of it from her teachers and such. She yawned, stretching her arms above her head and doing a backflip in the water. As long as she could touch while standing on her tippy toes, she wasn't really that afraid.
"Do your laps, and I'll see how long I can hold my breath under water." The Asian girl said, smiling her trademark Cheshire grin. She enjoyed doing weird things to amuse herself. She giggled and ducked under water, puffing out her cheeks and starting to count.

Darren smiled slightly. Felicity seemed cheerful enough, but it was time that he should be spending on actual practice.
“I’ll be lazy.” He thought, pulling himself out of the pool. “I’ll do twenty-five laps of freestyle, then go get some food.”
The Australian boy grabbed his goggles from his bag as he walked past and settled himself into a diving position on the block of the fourth lane. He took a few breaths, steadied himself, and dove into the water. With perfect form, Darren swam back and forth, pacing himself enough so that he didn’t get worn out.
“One of these days,” He thought, “I’m gonna have to try harder. Leaving my schoolwork to focus on swimming is bad enough, but doing neither is even worse.”
