Eliza considered Adelaide's ideas and negotiation of time. Friday.. Eliza thought to herself, wondering if she could really wait an entire week to have this meeting, the fact that she would be skipping class becoming a minor detail she would gladly shrug off. Eliza racked her brains for a different time, a time that would occur sooner than in seven days time as she leant backwards and began to float on her back again.
"While I don't mind skipping class, next Friday is a week away, and I don't particularly want to wait that long, nor do I have the patients to," Eliza commented calmly, pointing out what she thought to be the obvious as she floated, giving her legs a rest. "Why not tomorrow afternoon? I'm sure both classrooms will be free, since it is a Saturday, and Mr Hemingway won't mind us borrowing his room for a little while."
Eliza didn't want Adelaide to think she was rearranging a time to get out of having to skip class, because it truly didn't bother her in the least, so she kept her tone calm and swift, her words falling from her mouth evenly. She was getting excited and the anticipation of showing Adelaide what talent she had made butterflies and bubbles of glee rise inside of her.

Adelaide raised an eyebrow as soon as Eliza began her sentence with assurance that she didn’t mind skipping class. The redhead didn’t doubt that the girl would want to shed any sort of goody-goody image that came with being the headmaster’s daughter, but it irked Adelaide that the brunette wanted to have their meeting the next day. It was a Saturday, yet she wrongly assumed that the redhead would be free.
“Sorry, but I’ve got a paper to finish for music theory.” It was the truth, although it wouldn’t be the only thing she was doing on the Saturday. She also had a couple of meetings already planned, and more than just the one paper to finish. The redhead wracked her brain for the closest time that she was free and that Eliza would possibly be free too. “How about Monday after last period? I’ve got to be out by seven- thirty though.”
Adelaide then took a sharp breath in before continuing. “But if you haven’t got the patience to wait until Monday, then let’s not bother at all. After all, I only asked if you wanted to because you wouldn’t accept that I don’t really care for singing. It’s up to you.”
It bothered the redhead that Eliza would take her up on her offer to perform, but tell her she didn’t have the patience to wait a week. Adelaide found it rude that she’d say something like that to her when she was trying her best to be friendly. The performance was for Eliza’s sake anyway, and if she didn’t want to play, she didn’t have to.

As the Adelaide spoke, a frown formed on Eliza's face. Here this girl was, attempting to pull off a friendly persona and then she goes and insults someone who she really shouldn't. Although Eliza had pointed out that she wasn't a patient person, Adelaide was using that in her advantage to patronise her, as if she didn't have the capacity to wait 3 days until their meeting. She was impatient, but there is a big difference in waiting a week as to a weekend. The fact that Adelaide had only made the offer for the brunette's benefit, simply so that she could show herself off, really irked Eliza. She was actually interested in hearing the red head play her instrument too, keen to see if she actually was a 'harpist extraordinaire', as she put it.
Keeping herself calm while softening her face, Eliza decided not to let the girl's words bother her more than they had already, instead she took a short breath in and glanced at Adelaide before answering. "I thought you wanted to hear me play piano though?" Eliza asked the question meaning it to be rhetorical, so she continued on without much of a pause. "And anyway, Monday is only two days away, and I just couldn't see my patience holding out for an entire week. Plus, as much as you may not believe it, I would very much like to hear you play your instrument."
Eliza was using the girl's offer to her advantage; she was able to prove her wrong and also get her way in not having to wait a week until their meeting. "So Monday works fine for me," Eliza added, still floating on her back. "I'll meet you in Mr Hemingway's room after last period." Eliza wasn't going to disappoint this girl, she would play like she'd never played before and she'd sing with more precision than she had ever been able to muster in her life time.

As Eliza spoke, Adelaide noticed how carefully she was choosing her words. It was surprising how easily they could piss each other off. After the other girl finished speaking, the redhead raised her eyebrows slightly, before cracking into a genuine smile. Eliza seemed like a bit of a pain, but seemed fiery and spunky, similar to Adelaide herself. It was a little amusing, but they could probably become friends.
“I’m looking forward to it. Anyway, I’ve gotta do my laps.” Adelaide paused, treading water for a minute, before finishing. “See you Monday, Eliza.”
The redhead waited for a reply before ducking under the lane divider and shooting off, careful not to splash Eliza as she went.

Eliza knew Adelaide's smile was a genuine one, but why she was smiling, she didn't know, she was just glad she wasn't being sarcastic. Eliza still kept her composure and nodded as the girl spoke, not really bothering to lift herself up to look at Adelaide properly before she turned to swim away.
"Yep, Monday," Eliza said casually as she kicked lightly and continued to float in the water. Feeling a slight pulse of water push again her, Eliza knew Adelaide had swam away. Eliza was looking forward to Monday, was rather intrigued to see how it would turn out.
