After spending most of her day on the beach, walking up and down it and also along the jetty, Eliza had become tired and wished to retreat somewhere peaceful and quiet. Eliza found many things peaceful, such as the sound of rain against a window at night, the sound of a crackling fire in the middle of winter, the smell of the spring breeze has it blew across her skin and through her hair, but nothing beat a playlist full of Bon Iver and City and Colour along with the two latest issues of Alternative Press.
After changing into more comfortable clothes, Eliza picked up her iPod and the November and December issues of AP and headed for the library. She found it more peaceful there than her dorm as at that time of day the sun was shining through the library windows, warming the room and her skin. She picked one of the single chairs away from most of the people in library, which sat in front of the window, another vacated one sitting beside it. The chair was cushioned and comfortable, increasing her relaxation as Eliza put in her headphones and turned to an article on The Almost.
Eliza took in a deep breath as she looked out the window, the sun lighting up the surrounding grounds and enhancing the greenery. This was why France was her favourite place on Earth; there was no where else that could be so beautiful and serene while offering such a comfortable place to sit. She was in heaven.

The library was to Jackson what fish was to water, the home he lived, breathed and thrived in. If he could have he would have stayed in it all day instead of going to those useless classes in science, they seemed so useless to him compared to what could be found in books rather than people talking. He was currently walking with a stack of books near chin height and going right for his favourite chair in the place and having the intention of spending all day with the books having a day that made everything Ok.
But instead he found that someone had claimed the chair which left him slightly annoyed as he let his eyes squint and he sighed heading for the chair behind it. Granted it only got a fraction of the sunlight from the regular seat, but it still did albeit he was none to happy and wound up setting the books down rather harshly. His day was not going to be so perfect now and when the girl sigh he felt quite annoyed as he huffed and opened his book and tried his best to settle into the chair for it.

As Eliza settled herself quite comfortably into her chair, a rather loud disturbance echoed from the chair next to her. She glanced around to see a rather annoyed boy with a large stack of books looking in her direction. The books in front of him looked to have been dumped down and were clearly the source of the noise. The boy seemed to be directing his annoyance at at Eliza, for what reason she was unsure of, so she turned back to her magazine, reading about the latest news on one of her favourite bands.
Before she got too into the article, however, a huff came from the direction of the annoyed boy which rose over the music in her ears. Eliza again glanced at him, but turned right back to her iPod which she turned up, the volume of the acoustic music drowning out the white noise around her. Why her presence was bugging the boy, she didn't know, but for some reason it gave her some satisfaction. This feeling of satisfaction slowly seeped away however, as she engrossed herself in the article in front of her.

Still huffing and annoyed, Jackson proceeded to dig into the pile and pull out the oldest looking of the books. He looked back at the same moment the girl did before she turned away, ”That's right, look away. You couldn't possibly appreciate these works or that chair enough” he said as he shook his head and tried to slide into the chair but just couldn't get into the right position for it to feel comfortable.
But he heard the music turn up until it was a quite noise in the background that was digging into him and made him sigh angrily. ”Why do people not respect the rules of silence in the library. That's what it's made for” he muttered as he stood up and placed the book under his arm as he walked around to face the girl and looked at her, waiting for her to notice as he tapped his ear to symbolise taking the headphones out.

As she enjoyed the music filling up her ears, Eliza attempted to ignore the voice beside her, deciding not to react to it. But when the source of the voice got up and made its way to her side, Eliza couldn't ignore it anymore. The boy she had looked at earlier was standing over her, tapping his ear as if to ask her to take the headphones out. Eliza frowned at him and took one of the headphones out, feeling somewhat compelled no to do so, but she thought it best not to make a scene.
"Did you say something?" She asked simply, letting his no doubt rude words slide by and have no affect on her. Eliza wasn't in the mood to argue with someone, she was in much too a peaceful state for that. She attempted to keep her composure as she looked at the boy, her frown still slightly evident on her face.

Standing impatiently waiting for the girl to take her headphones out, Jackson felt his annoyance grow further at her as she took her sweet time doing so before asking if he'd said something in a voice that put it across that she'd not heard him before. That pushed his buttons even further as he bit the side of his tongue, she was definitely going to be a pain in his side this year it appeared if she acted this way and was near the library.
”Yes, the rules of the library do state silence while using it” he said as he gave a small nod upwards. ”And I can clearly hear your music ringing from those headphones which I must say is quite annoying” he added after.

Eliza raised her eyebrows at the boy, not sure if he was being serious or not; why would someone care so much about headphone noise? He could just get up and move. But when the boy didn't alter his expression or walk away, Eliza understood that he was, in fact, being serious. Eliza let out a long, silent sigh, as she looked up at him, her other headphone still in her ear.
"Well, you see, the problem is that I'm not actually making any noise, my headphones are, and they're not that loud, it's just because it's so quiet in here," Eliza shrugged lightly, holing onto the headphone that was in her hand and spinning it around in carefree fashion as she glanced around at the almost empty library. "And anyway, if it bothers you that much, why don't you just move to another seat? There's plenty to choose from." Eliza went to put her headphone back into her ear, hoping he would turn around and leave her alone.

The girl it seemed took a moment to realise that he wasn't joking and didn't seem to pleased at his explanation. Good. He didn't intend to please her, he intended her to follow the rules, shut up and give him some quiet like she was supposed to, she was only reading an article anyway, not even proper literary material for a library in his eyes.
”Yes but they still break the rules of silence. There is a reason behind the rule, it makes it harder to concentrate when listening to an annoying buzz in the background” he replied before she fought back whilst twirling her headphone in a carefree manner. Like he didn't impose any authority in her! The arrogant little git.
”Because this is the warmer section of the library and I would rather not have stiff fingers that risk tearing pages because of noise” he replied back, eyes half slit in a symbolic sneer at her. Why should he have to move? He had as much right as anyone else in the library to sit where he wished, possibly even more since he was here regularly.

As she went to put her headphone back in her ear, Eliza was cut off by the boy as he voiced his opinion and further annoyed her. Why is this such a big deal? Eliza thought that if this boy had the nerve to talk to her, in a library no less, then he could have at least been polite about it, but instead he was being rude and demanding, two things that didn't sit well with Eliza at all. She lowered her hand again and held her headphone between her fingers, Dallas Green's voice still singing into her left ear.
"If it is so annoying and you absolutely must sit in the warmth, then go sit outside in sun, or at another window," Eliza suggested, nodding her head in the direction of the hallway that ran off the particular section of the library they were in. "If you hadn't noticed, this is a mighty big school, and I'm sure you'll find a quieter and warmer place just to your liking, and you won't have to rudely interrupt or demand things of people you shouldn't disturb."
Eliza turned back to her magazine once again, but she was almost certain she'd cop an earful from the boy again at any moment, so she didn't bother raising her headphone to her ear once again; it was a waste of her energy and her time, just like this boy.

The girl really was not giving Jackson an Inch with his argument, rather deciding to push him further and further as she went to put her music back in. He gave his argument for why the warmth was necessary while he read she countered back telling him to go outside or to another window of the libraries. He didn't want another section, he wanted this one since it meant he had all of ten seconds walking to reach his desired books and the next nearest window that wasn't filled with others pushed that up to almost a minute.
She added after that it must not have come to his attention of the size of the school and that if he got moving he'd find somewhere to which he wanted without annoying others. It made him clench his fingers tightly in one hand as he bit his lip trying not to snap further at her as she lifted her magazine back up. Instead he chose a different tactic, one that would require a bit more effort but would certainly teach her a lesson.
”You know what... Fine... Have it your way Princess” he said quietly and spitefully as he paced away heavily back to his chair and lifted the stack of books as he looked back to her. He'd be keeping a close eye on her for the rest of the library time and finding out who she was, no-one knew the library better than he did after all.

As the boy spoke, Eliza glanced back up at him with a glare, her eyes burning through the back of his head as he turned and went back to his stack of books. Well he gave up way too easily, Eliza thought to herself as her glare turned into raised eyebrows, wondering what he was doing and why he gave up so quickly. Deciding not to retaliate and simply enjoy her victory, she put the headphone back in her ear and turned up her iPod even more so. Truthfully, it wasn't even that loud, it was only at about three quarters full, but due to the quiet surroundings and the upbeat and loud strumming of the song 'The Girl', Eliza could imagine one being able to hear the buzzing sound. However, it really wasn't such a problem, making her right and the boy wrong.
Turning back to her magazine, not at all phased by the boy's sudden change of heart, Eliza held up her magazine and continued to read the article, enjoying the peace and quiet, or so to speak.
