Eric had never liked parties, from a young age he frequently complained to the rest of his family whenever one was thrown. One of these complaints had even got him grounded for an entire summer. It had been during a History lesson when some of the other boys in the class had mentioned this particular party, and later that day had been when they had dragged him along. This didn't bother Eric that much really, since they were fun to hang out with, it was the fact that shortly after arriving they had one by one ditched him to either chase girls, dance, or mingle with other friends.
So now he found himself loitering about by the refreshments, slowly trying every last nibble the table had to offer, even things he knew he didn't like were consumed at least once. Checking his watch, he was surprised to observe he'd been killing time for almost an hour and had only thirty minutes until it was polite to sneak off back to his dorm to read. This brought a small smile to his face as he ate a profiterole

Adelaide Peyroux wasn’t under the snack table on purpose, of course not, because that would be bizarre. She had been walking along, minding her own business (along with minding some other people’s business as she did), when out of nowhere her left flip-flop sunk into the sand and sent her hurtling just left of the table of refreshments. The redhead’s face went straight into the sun-warmed sand, her rear-end sticking up in the air, and one flip-flop back where it so rudely tripped her. Awkwardly, Adelaide pulled her face from the sand and sat back on her heels, realizing that there was no one in the immediate area to laugh at her... except for the tall blonde boy who nibbled at a profiterole on the opposite side of the table.
The girl inched closer and lay her hands on the edge of the table, rising up so just the top half of her sand-coated face was visible. She narrowed her eyes at him and said in a low voice, “You didn’t see that.”

Eric had just finished the roll when he suddenly heard a voice, he raised an eyebrow unsure of the source having been sure he was alone at the table. After looking left and right, he turned round and saw a red headed girl with sand on her face glaring at him from the other side of the table. "What didn't I see?" asked Eric, ever the curious one "Is it something to do with the reason why you have sand on your face? they have serviettes on the table just there if you need one to help wipe it off" he pointed towards a small pile of tissues whilst continuing to observe the strange girl.

OOC: Sorry for any spelling mistakes. The computer I'm on doesn't have spell check.
IC: Adelaide watched as the blonde boy looked around, before he settled his eyes on her. He seemed honestly curious as to what had happened to her, even thought Adelaide could have sworn he had seen it.
The redhead sighed, thinking she should have just kept her mouth shut and reached over to pick up a napkin like the boy had suggested. She stood up and took a step back, before shaking her head wildly to get as much of the sand off as she could. She then brought the napkin to her face and dusted the rest off, keeping her eyes on the blonde boy as she did so. Once she was done, Adelaide rested her hands on the table.
"This isn't really your thing, is it?" She began, before continuing. "I'm Adelaide Peyroux, Harpist Extraordinaire, not like it matters. So how come you're over here when everyone else is over there?"
The redhead pointed, vaguely, to the rest of the party. "It ain't the most normal sight to see a handsome boy like you without a flock of girls around ya'." It was obvious that she wasn't trying to flirt with the blonde boy. She just wanted to know what it was about him that made people not want to hang around him.
"Any thoughts as to why?" Adelaide asked.

OOC: It's ok, sorry for this reply being ridiculously late, I had some personal issues lately.
Eric watched her, carry out the suggested action, in silence. He glanced briefly at the crowd before turning back when his absence form the group was mentioned. Whilst gazing at his feet in a moment of thought he contemplated the answer to that question before simply shrugging, "I don't know, maybe they didn't like the food? I haven't done anything to offend anyone as far as I know so perhaps it's purely that I'm one of those people that repel others, like the opposite of magnet people who become automatic leader of a group".
"The question is Miss Peyroux harpist extraordinaire" He started, before taking the first bite out of a small sandwich, "Is what you were doing hiding behind a table with sand on your face, instead of being other there with them". After posing the question he finished the sandwich and continued to stare at her in a casual but curious manner.

OOC: That's okay. You're free to take as long as you want when you RP with me. I'm fairly easy going.
IC: Adelaide smiled slightly when the mystery boy suggested that perhaps the reason people weren’t hanging around him was due to their dislike of the food. He continued on to say that he could be a person who repels people, instead of attracting them.
“I doubt it.” Adelaide commented, quietly, brushing the sand from her hair with her fingers before settling her eyes onto the blonde boy.
He continued by asking why she was standing behind the table instead of socialising. The boy ate a small sandwich from the table and looked at her with a face that balanced between indifference and curiosity.
The redhead’s fingers tiptoed along the edge of the table until she spotted a plate that held bite sized chocolate chip cookies, at the sight of which she smiled and picked one up. “Well, I’ve made my rounds to the people I know fairly well, which isn’t all that many seeing as I only started here this year, so now I’m meeting new people.” She gestured to the boy in front of her. “You know, networking and all that jazz.”
Adelaide pushed the cookie into her mouth and chewed it. She waited until she had finished it before brushing a crumb from the corner of her mouth and asking, “So, what is your name?”
