The bustling in the cafeteria this day was not of the traditional teenage chitterings, that of holidays, class work, the drama caused by hormones and opposite genders or even that of media. Though it may has well have been with the volume today was rather different, there was a real life mystery in the school that had caused enough panic to bring them all together to warn the culprits. But for one student nursing a slightly damaged left hand from a few weeks before that had been made a little worse, it was just another thing he didn't need in his life.
You see he had been at the school over the holidays and with some family drama instigated by phone calls to himself, he'd drank a fair bit more of his home-made alcohol than he would have normally allowed himself. This caused small amounts of haze in his memory at times and a loss of temper that had resulted in him punching a wall with the hand he had split open with a shattered beaker only weeks before. His knuckles had finally stopped swelling and gone down majority, leaving only a few bruises on his knuckles and phalanges that where hidden by the bandage.
”So did you hear? It was the SPECIAL awards cabinet, you know the really important ones from the major achievers.”[/i] ”Wow, when they catch the kid who did that... Well I have a feeling it'll be more than just expulsion if it was that”[/u] said two hushed voices ahead of himself in the queue as he looked down at his hand for a few moments and tried to move his fingers gently. ”Just what I needed... More drama” he said quietly with a sigh as he shook his head and dragged himself a step further up the queue to grab a tray and wait to move on to the buffet.
Another day in the life of a major science nerd, another stereo-typical lunch by himself at the end of a table.

Angie walked into the cafeteria thinking she should have skipped lunch all together. Why? Well, she wasn’t really hungry and having just talked to her father made that feeling even worse. Her father had heard about the vandalism at the school and once again found a reason to threaten her over the phone. It better not have been her, if she gets expelled, blemishes the family name in anyway she knew what would happen.
She had stayed on campus over break mostly because her parents had told her to. As they had put it, they didn’t want to look at her and because none of the boys of society would want her now that she had all those scars, there was no point in her bothering to come home. This is what the girl dealt with and what she never told anyone. Her roommates still had yet to be around during one of these conversations.
The blonde girl went into the lunch room but saw no one she knew; well she did see a few of her former friends but wasn’t going to sit there. To be honest, she didn’t want to talk about the vandalism at the school or the drama surrounding; it was pretty much the last thing on her mind except once they caught whoever it was it would be one less thing her parents could threaten her with.
Out of habit, she went to the line and couldn't help but over hear the two students in hushed voices ahead of the boy, who had a bandaged hand in front of herself. She grabbed a tray and sighed hoping she could find some place to sit where she didn't have to hear about this.

”I would be surprised if it didn't involve the police either. They smashed that up good”[/I] Replied the first kid as they finally shifted up the line and grabbed their food in a hasty manner like it would be stolen from them if they didn't act that moment. Arkasel instead noted another had joined the queue now the remove him from the back, a young looking blonde who seemed to be annoyed almost as much as himself but for reasons unknown from appearance. So instead he didn't look over to try and figure it out, nor try to strike up a conversation.
Instead he just reached over to pile his plate up with an assortment of vegetables, before adding in a little bit of chicken at the side. He felt bad after but and instead added a second adding of it, knowing to well he needed to protein if his hand was to heal up any quicker. Most students lunged for the pizza, the chips and other delicious looking foods to most, he was not quite the same since he knew what they where composed of and would do to him if he ate them. Another reason to be paranoid as a scientist, you learned far to many things that made you ill.
But moving on with his tray a little further down he managed to clip his hand on the edge of the tray and the railing causing him to flinch back in agony and shake it gently a few times. ”Bloody... Ahhhh” he muttered quietly as he bit at his tongue trying not to swear from what felt like he had opened it back up again. He turned sheepishly after his momentary appearance of madness back to his tray and went to move it on further before he tilted his head a little towards the girl from his height.
”Sorry” he said hushedly as he went to move on, once again making a mess of things in the world of the normal.

Angie heard the two students in front of the boy in front of her speak some more on the subject, it was amazing how trivial it seemed to the blonde. She had though bigger and more personal issues to worry about. Her blue eyes glanced down at the boy’s hand and wondered what he had done, not that she suspected anything, it just looked like it probably hurt and got her mind off herself for a moment but she felt a little odd asking this boy who she didn’t know.
Her hand and arm seemed to have a mind of it’s own, almost, as she almost unconsciously took the food, after the boy in front of her had taken what he wanted out of each sections. She though suddenly realized what she was doing and the fact that her appetite wasn’t up to eating by this point having a slice of pizza on her tray, it was all she took and a juice and waited to move forward.
It was about then that she heard the boy …Bloody….Ahhhh. It made her jump but to a degree that was barely noticeable. Had he hurt himself? It did sound that way. He then seemed to apologize for what he had said. ”It’s alright.” She assured him. ”Are you all right?” It took her long enough but she finally got up the courage to say something to him, Angie was just not what one would call out going.

The two had finally left ahead of the students and taken their conversation to another table in the hall, finally leaving Ark and anyone who cared little for the current situation to enjoy a momentary quietness of their own skulls. However this had not ended quite so well for the student who was wrapped up in his own head to such a degree that he failed to notice a ridge in the counter and smacked his damaged hand upon it.
After a moment of twitching in agony like he might have just slammed it in a door he realised he might have shocked those around him or near, finding it instead only to be a single girl behind him. He quickly apologised and shook his hand again gently as he went to move the tray with his good hand and kept his gaze away so as not to let his shame build.
The girl but seemed curious, much so like everyone else in the school he had met this year and after dismissing his action as ok, she questioned if he was all right from his little incident. ”Yeah, it's just a small injury I managed to nick again that's all” he admitted as he reached to move his tray with his good hand again and just managed to lift it with a little wobble before It once again became stable as he glanced for a spot to sit at.

It seemed as if a welcome silence, minus the chatter from the cafeteria outside the line, came upon Angie as the two students that had been talking away about the events left the line. She was relieved to have to listen to that any longer. Though, it was to hear the boy …it seemed like hurt himself, though she wasn’t bothered by that just concerned for him.
His bandaged hand looked painful and for a moment brought her back to another time, another place but his apology though just as quickly brought her out of it. She just moved up in the line wondering if saying something would make him embarrassed or if it would be all right.
She nodded to his response. ”Oh” not sure what else to say about it. She was about to ask if he needed help with his tray but he seemed to balance it. She stayed behind him until he moved out of the line and then stepped to the side to look for a spot to sit. Most of the tables were take with students, all talking probably about the vandalism. She glanced at the boy…who she had made an assumption about and hoped it as right. ”Excuse me and please tell me if I ‘m wrong but you seemed as disinterested in the whole vandalism thing as I am.” She paused for a moment. ”Do you think we could sit together and not discuss it…as there only seems to be one area of a table left unoccupied.” She pointed out the area and hoped her request didn’t sound incredibly odd.

After making an arse of himself by smacking his hand and attempting to apologise, he went back to trying to finish gathering his lunch as the girl asked what happened. He threw back a reply that was truthful but not the full thing, after all only two people knew of the incident at that moment in time; Himself & Adelaide which he didn't plan on changing any time soon since it would mean risking people knowing of his late night activities in the science labs.
Attempting to lift his tray without spilling it one handed and barely succeeding the girl acknowledged his reply while he looked for a table just out of the line. Sadly it looked to be packed today and he did not feel like joining the normal student body since he didn't seem to fit in with it to well. Though he was interrupted from his scanning by the voice again as he turned to look down to the girl, pushing his glasses back up the bridge of his nose with the bandaged hand.
”You would be correct” he replied, his accent poking through as he waited for her to continue with a surprising offer of sitting with her at lunch since he seemed like one of the few students not babbling over it. ”Yeah... That sounds like a rational idea rather than the hysteria this assembly has brought” he replied as he took a few steps towards the table she had pointed out.

There was a relief in the knowledge that she had been correct about him. Even more so when he agreed with her suggestion. It would certainly be better than having to sit where that would be the only conversation to be had. The blonde took her tray to the table she had pointed out and sat down
The girl glanced around the cafeteria, her blue eyes spotting some of her former friends. It didn’t matter, they had opted to ignore and she was slowly making other friends. The lid to her juice had popped open with her help; letting it be known that the cap could be twisted off. She did just that and took a sip of it. The girl doubted that she would be eating much but thought it might be good if she tried.

Well today it seemed was full of surprises & the young scientist had no idea how much longer it would last. He'd got his new formulae to work, the assembly had been called for a serious crime and now he had been invited to eat lunch with someone else who shared his apathy of the crime though most likely not for the same set of reasons as himself. Following after her, he traced his way round the space of the cafeteria's floor towards the table, sitting down across from her once she had placed down her own tray.
He noted her looking around for a moment but failed to follow suit, instead removing his bag from his shoulder with his one good hand and setting it at his feet. Lifting his fork, he ate a mouthful of mixed vegetables as she drank, before moving to open his bottle of water with a single hand. It didn't work to well at the start however as the bottle moved slightly and the lid remained jammed. But after a moment the seal finally cracked and the lid slowly began to move.
”So... What has you at this school?” he asked for a moment, avoiding the subject that neither of them had any interest in. Rather he was more interested in finding out other peoples specialities that got them into the school that was known for it's exclusiveness.

The blonde girl had let her mind drift for a moment. She had picked up her fork and pushed her around her food. No this wasn’t going to work; she just didn’t have much of an appetite. She put her fork down and took another sip of her drink. It was about then she heard his question.
”Oh…I’m an artist. Mostly drawing and painting.” That was it. Her specialty, the thing that had gotten her in here. Though not just that it was her passion, it was the one thing the girl really didn’t think she could survive without. ”So, how about you?” She swore she must have seen this boy before but couldn’t remember with any certainty.
The girl waited for whatever response he gave or not and then she recalled she never introduced herself. Manners were a little off today. ”I’m Angelina Morrison by the way” Due to his hand and she’d have to reach across the table a handshake seemed inappropriate. ”Feel free to call me Angie by the way most people do.”

Both the students sat in silence for a few moments as they attempted to eat, the taller of the two having no problem with his meal compared to the girl who seemed to not be too interested. So he attempted to start a conversation, not something he was to experienced with but was willing to work on. The girl was friendly enough in return, offering her gift at the school as an artist which surprised him. He seemed to meet constantly different people for their interests and not a single one sharing with him or another he knew. ”Interesting, the traditional mediums instead of welding and such” he replied before she asked his as he gave a minor shrug. ”Science, you're traditional all around nerd really” he replied as he took another mouthful of food.
Out of the blue then came an introduction as she offered her name and a nickname that most people apparently used. ”Arkasel Redfield” he replied with a small smile and a nod in returned. ”Few people call me Ark, Administration seems to prefer Redfield when they're putting us in formal situations” he added after. It was interesting to have a nickname for once, he was used to full names in his life and the novelty was still fresh to himself.

If there was one subject which Angie could talk for hours on end about it was art, not just her art but art in general. She loved everything about the subject. It was hard but she didn’t try to do that to others unless she really knew that they were interested in the subject like she was. She didn’t want to be boring to other’s either but anything else and she just normally wasn’t that outgoing. ”Yes. I’ve never really gotten into the non-traditional art mediums.” Though seeing that work was fascinating to her, as well as what she did. The girl nodded to what he said regarding his own talent. ”That must be interesting, though. Any particular type of science?” The thing was she wasn’t just humoring him, she liked hearing about other people’s interests even if she knew little about the subject herself.
Introducing herself seemed to be the proper thing to do. She smiled to him in return. ”Well, I think perhaps I’d stick with Ark, if you don’t mind me using it that is.” Arkasel, in her mind, didn’t suit him as well. ”I think the administration just likes using last names “ Though it did sort of depend, she supposed, on why they were talking with you. She took another sip of her soda. ”So, what year are you in?” He seemed older…maybe a twelve year but she couldn’t be sure.
