So this was it. He was on his way to his first class of the day. Well his first class ever at this school. It was a little unnerving to be the new kind. And to top it off, he was the gay new kid. He honestly never had a problem being gay, but at a new school it was a little different. Who knew if he was going to be accepted as he was or not. Just as long as he didn’t have to fake being straight, everything would be good.
He kept walking towards his class, hoping to run into somebody up here. His bag was slung over his shoulder, the medium sized massager bag hitting his thigh. He was preventing the strap from wrinkling his navy blue sweater that covered a button up black dress shirt. What? He wanted to go to class with style and be fabulous. He just hopped it wasn’t too over the top for his theatre class. But it was theater right? So that should automatically be a good thing.
In short he was a little past nervous.

Adelaide dashed between the students she knew, and the ones that she didn't yet know, her little black lace skirt swishing, the little silver chains on it clinking as she did her morning rounds. The fiery redhead took time out of every morning before her first class to meet knew people, which explained the way she said "Hello" or "Mornin'" to every person who walked past. The girl patted some people on the back as she sailed past, scruffled some people's hair, and even gave a year 11 a kiss on the cheek. She felt invincible on mornings like the one she was having, and hopefully the smile that she had would be shared to others.
On this particular morning, Adelaide had yet to find her target for the day, but her eyes quickly focused on a tall, dark-haired boy, who looked like he had put a lot of hard work into his outfit, and wasn't getting any compliments on it, so the girl sped up to get closer and hooked her arm into his.
"Good morning, sunshine!" She said, cheerfully looking up at the boy. He was much taller than she had imagined, but that didn't stop her sunny smile. "Might I say that your sweater is adorable? Where are we going today, darlin'?"
Adelaide's obvious Southern accent was easily heard over the rumble of the crowd. She was pretty loud as it was, so she wasn't worried about shouting a little to be heard.

He had to kept dogging people or he would undoubtedly hit them and knock them over. It was just like home, only theses people had talent and weren't, well hopefully, dumb as a post. But that is what happens when you grow up in a small town in the middle of Ohio. It was defiantly in the middle of no where. And he hated it.
He had been looking down for about two seconds before looking back up. His eyes caught a fiery red head walking his directing in the cutest skirt he had ever seen on a girl. Thought he was defiantly a sucker for anything with lace on it. She was shorter than him once she made her way up to him, but that didn't stop her from saying anything to other kids in the hallway.
He felt a smile pass over his lips once she commented on his outfit for the day. "Thank you," he said. "That skirt is so adorable and I love you hair." Normally he was shy around people but her cheerful go get it attitude was something he wasn't scared of, honestly it was a little surprising. "My theater class, somewhere in the school."

The tall boy had a cute smile, and didn't freeze up like some of the other boys that she had met over her time at the school. Instead, he just seemed to roll with her care-free attitude and the way she said things.
"Thank you, kindly." Adelaide said, just before the boy spoke about his theatre class. "So you're a Drama student? Very cool. I'm a muso. Adelaide Peyroux, Harpist Extraordinaire, at your service. And how may I be of service on this fine mornin'? Cause if you wanna be taken to your classroom, you're goin' in the wrong direction."
The redhead stopped walking and turned to point back down the long hallway. She looked back up at the tall boy and smiled a Southern Hospitality smile. "I can take you there in a few short minutes, if you trust me, that is?"

He couldn't help but wonder if he added his flair on his words would it scare her off. Surely it wouldn't, but just to be safe he wouldn't just yet. "Drat. The wrong way." He cursed himself under his breath before looking at her again. "I'm terrible at directions, and a very nice looking boy pointed me in this direction." Well that nice looking boy was wrong.
"Oh what a lovely name you have," he stated right after she said her name. It was one of the names on a long list he liked. "Asher Dantes." He held out his hand for her to shake, though they were a little past introductions for his taste. Though she said the word trust. He didn't like that word, as he had trust issues about four miles high. "I'll trust you enough to lead me in the right direction down the hall."

When the taller boy said that a nice looking boy pointed him the way he was travelling, Adelaide laughed.
"He was a liar, don't listen to a thing anyone says here." The girl then shook her head, with a smile. "Anyone not including me, that is. You can listen to me."
The boy said that his name was Asher Dantes, directly after commenting on Adelaide's pretty name, she smiled again, and shook his hand. It was a bit of a stiff handshake, like he was uncomfortable, but Adelaide had dealt with so many uncomfortable people as it was, and she didn't give up until they were friendly.
"Well then, if you trust me enough, then let's go." She said, taking hold of Asher's hand and pulling him in the direction they were already going. "You see, it'll take you forever to get back to the drama classrooms if we just turn around. I mean, just look at them."
Adelaide pointed back to the flurry of students in the hallway. It was almost impossible to see the other end through all the colourful clothes, and giant canvases, and the musos that were carrying their instruments.
"But if we go up onto the third floor, where all the Academics are, you'll be at your classroom in five minutes." Adelaide looked up at Asher, and pointed to the staircase. "Going up?"

"I'll keep that in mind next time," he laughed. Good job Asher you did it again. Fooled again by someone. Pay more attention next time. She had a lovely smile that caught his eye. Maybe he was making a new friend, which would be nice, but he didn't get his hopes up for it. Last time that had crushed him. Wasn't going to happen again.
She took his hand and shook it. He relaxed a bit when she started to take him down the hall. She started to explain why they were headed in the opposite direction. It made since in the long run, why go through if you could go around type of thing.
The reached some stairs before long and she looked up at him. he had no idea where theses stairs went, but she did, or so he hopped. "Guess the only way to class is up now if I want to be there on time," he gave an uneasy laugh before going up the stairs. His hand clenched onto the railing, the knuckles turning white, as he tensed up. He was half expecting her to leave him to wonder about like an idiot.

Adelaide jumped up the stairs, two at a time, and stood at the top, waiting for Asher to join her. "Come on, up here."
The redhead turned and finished the stairs, entering the dead quiet hallway of the Academics floor, expecting Asher to be walking behind her. "The Academics usually get to their classes pretty quick, not just because most of them want to get to class early, but also cause the teachers are strict as all hell. My English teacher, for example, won't give me the time of day unless I address him by his full name, and not just 'Sir'. But then again, I'm just generalising with the Academic students. Some are different. Some even like to break the rules." Adelaide's mind lingered on her evening with Arkasel for a short second, before she shook the thought from her mind and continued. "The thing is, at this time of day, it's just quicker to take the Academic floor to class."
Adelaide had reached the end of the long hallway and had arrived at the opposite staircase, the one that led down to where the drama classrooms were. She turned to look back down the hallway, to make sure Asher was still behind her.

Well she wasn't leaving him, that was a plus. in fact she was at the top of the stairs already by taking two steps at a time. He sped up his pace while letting his grip on the railing loosen.
He had just reached the top when she turned to walk off. He had to adjust and fix his sweater before moving again. It was one of his pet peeves to to not look almost perfect. Reaching perfection would never happen so he settled for almost. He caught about half her talk before she was already at the other end of the hall way.
She was standing by more stairs waiting for him. "He sounds like a bundle of joy." he said with a sarcastic tone. "We will see how today goes and if I have any of those teachers. I did in my home town. My history teacher hated me, for some reason."

Adelaide smiled at the well-dressed boy. "Ah, the CAPA teachers are all pretty nice. I don't know about the drama teachers though, but the music ones are okay." She turned and began to walk down the stairs, talking up at him. "And it seems like most history teachers are a pain in the ass. They act like everything of importance happened back then, and nothing matters except remembering the past. Tell me to put away my phone, how about get a better comb-over, Mr. O'Grady." Adelaide grumbled, remembering her last history teacher back in Louisiana.
Remembering her home, the redhead shook off the bad vibes she was creating and continued down the stairs. "Talking about home towns, where are you from? New Orleans, myself."

He followed her down the stairs, listing to her. It did seem like most history teachers were a pain. Though he had one lovely woman who was short and adorable that wasn't too bad. He laughed at little at her grumbling, because he knew exactly how it was. "The last one I had was a little woman that liked to yell. But I baked cookies for her so she liked me."
"Oh, I'm from up north. Greenport, New York. Small town in the middle of no where."

Adelaide stopped on the staircase when Asher talked about his last history teacher and looked at him with wide eyes.
"You can bake?!" The redhead clapped her hands together and linked her fingers like she was begging. "Pleaaaaaaaase tell me you can make financiers!"
She laughed at her own absurdity and scratched her head. "I've never been up north. Must be so different from here though. I know Louisiana is." Adelaide continued down the stairs, slowly, waiting for Asher to answer.
The taller boy seemed nice, someone that Adelaide could get along with quite easily, but she knew that, like most people, there was more to him that met the eye. So, with most people, Adelaide vowed to find out what it was about him that was so special.

He was startled by the red head suddenly clapping. It wasn't something he was use to, even in the slightness. "Do I make what?" He asked wit ha puzzled look on his face. He continued down the stairs but couldn't for the life of him figure out what it was that she was talking about.
"I love up north. Sure it gets cold but that is the best snuggle weather. Even if it is with your cat. " He missed his cat, the nice one, his grandmothers not so much. "That and a cute boy if one is around." He whispered the last sentence, because he didn't know how she would take it. He wasn't scared of his sexuality, just careful on other people's views.

Adelaide fiegned shock when Asher said he didn't know what financiers were. "You've never had financiers? They're amazing! It's a little cake that has almond flour in it, and you serve it with fruit and cream and ice cream!"
"You're lucky to get all the cold weather. Most of the weather down in New Orleans is hot as all hell." She shrugged her shoulders with a mild laugh. "And all the boys? Drunk off their faces, half the time!"
Adelaide walked further down the stairs. "But New Orleans is good for one thing, and that's evenings. We get beautiful hot, summer evenings down in Louisiana. The type of evening where you can sit in a tree and look up at the stars."
The two had reached the bottom of the stairs and were only a few short feet from the drama classroom door.
"And here is your classroom." Adelaide said, flashing the taller boy a kind smile. "Let me tell you, boy: you're much better company than some of the other fools roaming these halls. I hope we will meet again soon."

He'd have to make some sometime. Of course he would have to have her there to help him, and then taste them, but he was sure that could be easily arranged. Besides, they sounded good.
"Sometimes I'd much rather have heat than cold," he laughed. "Most boys up north are two faced, only a select few aren't. Or high. There is that too."
As they neared what he thought to be his classroom, he didn't want to leave. She was really sweet, and he enjoyed that. Somehow he'd have to met up with her later. "Thank you. I hope to see you too, and soon."

Adelaide linked her hands together and shrugged her shoulders with a smile. "Boys are like snowflakes." She said. "No two are the same."
When Asher thanked Adelaide for her time, she smiled again. She was lucky to have been walking alone the hallway at the exact time that he was. It was lovely to meet such a kind, if not cautious, boy. He seemed a little nervous with the fact he was at a new school, and his homosexuality or bisexuality (Adelaide didn't like to make assumptions) would definitely cause someone to be a little more nervous than usual. She knew from her childhood friend, Diego, that it was hard for boys who were growing into men, especially if they had something to be bullied about.
Adelaide hoped with all her heart that if any trouble came Asher's way that he'd come to her. Adelaide was a very protective person, and though she loved a bit of drama, no one would get to any of her friends while she was around.
"We'll see each other again, for sure. I'm in CAPA dorm 5 so if you ever want to come around and meet the gang, just knock."
The redhead gave a little bow and skipped away, giving Asher a little wave as she went off into her little dream world.
